On April 6, 2015, lead actress Nina Dobrev confirmed that she and co-star Michael Trevino (who plays Tyler Lockwood) would be leaving the show after its sixth season. Dobrev returned to record a voiceover for the seventh-season finale and returned as a guest star in the series finale.[3] Trevino appeared as a guest star in the seventh and eighth seasons.[32][33]

Producers reported that there would be a transition of the characters in both series. Claire Holt made a special cameo in The Vampire Diaries, in the episodes "I Know What You Did Last Summer"[170] and "500 Years of Solitude".[171] Michael Trevino made a special cameo on episodes of The Originals, "Bloodletting" and "The River In Reverse". Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Claire Holt returned to The Vampire Diaries in a special cameo on the series' 100th episode "500 Years of Solitude". Nina Dobrev also appeared in the fifth episode of The Originals' second season, "Red Door", as Tatia, another doppelgänger.

The creators wrote all of the episodes of the first season themselves, omitting "filler episodes" to allow for a concise story.[41] Once the series was expanded from its original 12-episode schedule to 26 and then to 52, more writers were brought in so that the creators could focus on design work.[42] Joaquim Dos Santos and Ryu Ki-Hyun, who worked on the animation and design of the original series, also became involved with creating The Legend of Korra, as is storyboarder Ian Graham. Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn, who composed the soundtrack for the original series as "The Track Team," also returned to score The Legend of Korra.[43]

The show returned on March 17, 2008 . It had an earlier time slot[24] and nine new episodes.[25] The second season premiered, in the same slot, on September 22, 2008. During that season, the show's ratings grew. That led to a two-year renewal through the 2010-11 season.[26][27]

In the United States, it premiered on Syfy (U.S.) on April 17, 2015, at 10 p.m. EDT/PDT (with the broadcast day changed to Friday).[104] It was afterwards changed to Thursday at 10 p.m. effective as of May 21, 2015.[105] The mid-season finale episode on June 4 was followed by a preview of Part 2 announcing Lost Girl would return to Syfy in 2016. This announcement was confirmed on June 23, 2015, by Lost Girl Series.[106] Season 5 Part 2 premiered on February 1, 2016, at 10:00 p.m. (with its broadcast schedule returned to Monday; as aired in its first four seasons).[107] 041b061a72
